To The Girl That Tried

To the girl that tried,

Know that

Your efforts don’t go unnoticed,

I know you tried and remained devoted

You were patient, you were willing

He did you wrong and you stayed too long

His time was up but instead of calling it at a "break up”

You gave him another chance

Chances after chances, disappointments expanded

You thought he was the one which is why you couldn’t be done

You loved hard with expectations, that only led to frustrations

Every day was a routine, nothing new to be seen

You were lenient, loyal and optimistic

What you thought was love, just wasn’t realistic

You were losing yourself trying to spare his feelings,

But never did he offer you any healing

He didn’t deserve you, your patience was a virtue

You wasted too much time on a situation with grime

You sought understanding but got let down to be called

“Delusional”, “Extra” and “Crazy"

He would never know the battles you had to fight, trying to make the relationship right

You lost your happiness to please him…

So to the girl that tried, your efforts were sufficient

Don’t second guess your actions for commitment

You did more than enough, got your heart broke & remained tough

To try and love the guy, that you soon had to tell “bye”.
