Let's talk about prolonging connections and the outcomes of it.
It's normal to keep a relationship or friendship going unconsciously because we're comfortable with the person or we are trying to be nice, or maybe we’re afraid of hurting their feelings.But the key to getting down to the nitty gritty is analyzing what you’re gaining from keeping a friendship or relationship going with a person. It’s important to share and express how we feel, what bothers us, what is acceptable and what’s not.
We should normalize cutting those people off who showed their true colors the first time. We must learn to close the chapters that no longer serve us.
I had to normalize keeping conversations short with people who were draining my energy.
Pay attention to how you feel when you talk to a person or when you hang out with them.
I had to ask myself a couple times, how is staying in this friendship helping me? The longer I prolonged a connection, the more it disturbed my peace.
If you see something you don't like. Address it and if it continues. Let it go
Again, that goes for any connection you have in your life. (Family, friends and dating)
It doesn't make you or anyone else a bad person but settling for anything less of what you desire shouldn't be an option.
When ending a relationship with someone, its best to be respectful and straight forward. Expressing how you feel shouldn’t result in conflict.
Once I decided to put myself first and end connections, I felt better about my decision and noticed how things in my life began to align. I was more focused and didn’t feel obligated to engage or respond to those people that always felt obligated to my time.
I watch the company I keep around me for I know all company is not good company. Many people will carry bad traits or energy that can easily be rubbed off.
Life is too short, so fulfill it with what you truly want.
