Two books I really enjoyed

12 Rules of Life (An Antidote to Chaos:) Jordan B. Peterson

I read this book twice back to back because it was that powerful and I would recommend it to anyone. This isn’t your typical and ordinary “self help book”. The way the author explains his points on life so raw and bluntly, is impressive and valuable. Peterson covers twelve different topics all of which relate to the decisions and failures we humans make in life. This book will transition your perspective to another level and make you face reality truths within yourself, ones you may not even realize you had. This is a book that will expand your mind, after reading this book I had a completely different outlook on life, everything Peterson says just makes sense.

Overall rating: 10/10

Favorite chapters:

  • RULE ONE: Stand up straight

  • RULE SEVEN: Pursue what is meaningful

  • RULE EIGHT: Tell the truth or at least don’t lie (A GEM!)

  • CODA: “Treat your wife as a mother of God”

The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown:

I would say this is more of an audible (Ted Talk) rather than a book. I finished this in one day considering its only six hours long split into (six sessions). To sum this audio up, Brene Brown talks about how vulnerability can be uncomfortable yet a good thing. Vulnerability is all about taking risks in life, careers, relationships and friendships. What made this easy to grasp and listen to was her sharing personal examples.

FYI: Brene covers this talk with a lot of jokes and her personal life stories which I found a bit annoying throughout but overall still a good audio with good lessons that are very useful.

Overall rating: 7/10

Favorite Highlights:

  • Session 1: Why we struggle

  • Session 3: Empathy and Vulnerability
